05.2009 - MONTHLY UPDATE

Well I am off to a better start this month. We have been playing and having fun, as always. We finally took Jessica to the movies. We went and saw “Earth” and though we arrived late, she did really well. She loved the big screen and her popcorn, candy and drink and she made it through about 45 minutes. Which I was pretty impressed by.

We have also been hitting a lot of the elementary school playgrounds and this one day after Jessica played for a bit on each one of the different playgrounds we were making our way back to the Jeep. Jessica saw a robin in front of her and she started chasing it, apparently this bird was use to this as he would fly just a bit and low and she was able to chase this bird for a good minute before it finally flew up and over the school. She was so stoked to chase it around and got a little bummed when it finally flew away, but we told her to say "Bub Bye" to the bird, she promptly did and was off again on her merry little way.

Jessica is totally a Daddy’s girl and would hardly ever say Mom, but all of a sudden she has started calling me Mom all the time and now says “Mom (brief pause) Dad” all the time, as well. Plus she can tell the difference between these words in reading, as well as Grandma, Jessica and Eyes. Jessica can also pick out all the letters of the alphabet if asked for the letter. She can say some of them, but is still working on that. Now whenever she hears the alphabet song she starts dancing and her dancing is more of spinning in circles. So I can understand that her mind is all wishy washy when trying to say the alphabet, but she is definitely saying more and more.

We have been working a bit harder on the potty training front and she is doing really well going to the bathroom in public; however, at home it is really hit and miss and more miss than I would like to say. However, I have heard that it is usually harder to potty train in public, so at least we are getting the hard part out of the way first, right?

We also took Jessica to see her cousins, Talesha and Shaela, perform their dances. As she sat on my lap watching the girls dancing she would begin to move her arms around like the dancers, it was pretty neat. She is totally a girl and I think someday she will have a blast being the one on the stage.
